Proviron NV is a family owned chemical manufacturing company that designs, produces and markets chemicals mainly for medium volume niche markets. It has 22 production units in three manufacturing plants, situated in Belgium and the US. Proviron initiated its microalgae program in 2006 and developed, engineered and patented a proprietary photobioreactor system for outdoor cultivation of algae, dubbed ProviAPT (patent EP 2039753).
In 2018 Proviron initiated a project on indoor vertical farming of ‘hard to culture’ high value microalgae for use in aquaculture (mainly hatchery feeds) through the use of LED lighting.
It possesses all the necessary equipment in-house to independently perform further development of both this indoor algae cultivation system and an outdoor system.
